A prominent north-facing bluff 10 mi E of Mount Morning in Victoria Land. Mapped by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) from ground surveys and Navy air photos. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) in 1963 for Lieutenant Commander Louis L. Helms, U.S. Navy (USN), officer in charge of the Squadron VX-6 wintering-over detachment at McMurdo Station, 1961.
