Description

An island lying 0.6 mi SW of Nesoya in the NE part of Lutzow-Holm Bay. It is the easternmost of three small islands which lie 0.5 mi NW of the strait separating Ongul Island and East Ongul Island. Mapped from surveys and air photos by Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition (JARE), 1957-62. The name "Hiyoko-jima" (baby chick island) was given by Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition (JARE) Headquarters in 1972.
