Point at the head of Beascochea Bay which divides it into two arms, on the W coast of Graham Land. First charted by the British Graham Land Expedition (BGLE) under Rymill, 1934-37. Named by the UK Antarctic Place-names Committee (UK-APC) in 1959 for Axel Holst (1860-1931), Norwegian biochemist who in 1907, with Theodor C.B. Frolich, first produced experimental scurvy and laid the foundations for later work on vitamins.
