Description (see definition): A prominent, mainly snow-covered mountain in northern Adelaide Island, about 14 mi SW of Mount Velain. Mapped from air photos taken by Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (RARE) (1947-48) and Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition (FIDASE) (1956-57). Named by UK Antarctic Place-names Committee (UK-APC) after Fritz Machatschek (1876-1957), Austrian geomorphologist; joint author with E. von Drygalski of Gletscherkunde, 1942.
