A rock outcrop on the broad ice-covered ridge between Hammond and Swope Glaciers, 6 mi ESE of Mount West, in the Ford Ranges of Marie Byrd Land. Mapped by U.S. Antarctic Service (USAS) (1939-41) and by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos (1959-65). Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Frank T. Midkiff, Jr., aviation machinist's mate, U.S. Navy (USN), helicopter flight crewman during Operation Deep Freeze 1968.
