Description (see definition): Strait lying between Nelson and Robert Islands, in the South Shetland Islands. Probably first charted in 1821 by Captain Nathaniel B. Palmer, American sealer, who named it Harmony Strait. Renamed King George's Strait on Captain George Powell's chart of 1822, and Parrys Straits by James Weddell, Master, Royal Navy (RN), on his chart of 1825. It has since become known as Nelson Strait, probably taking its name from Nelson Island, which it adjoins on the east.
