Description (see definition): A peak, 1,790 m, standing 2 mi S of Sullivan Peaks at the NE edge of Mackin Table in the Patuxent Range, Pensacola Mountains. Mapped by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy (USN) air photos, 1956-66. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Chester M. Pierce who, with Jay T. Shurley, studied the psychophysiology of men while asleep and awake--both before, during, and after sojourns at the South Pole Station, in 1966-67.
