Description (see definition): A channel glacier about 15 mi long, flowing to the Antarctic coast between Reist Rocks and Cape Nutt. Mapped (1955) by G.D. Blodgett from aerial photographs taken by U.S. Navy (USN) Operation Highjump (1947). Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) after Lieutenant Joseph A. Underwood, USN, who served on the sloop Vincennes of the U.S. Exploring Expedition (USEE) (1838-42) under Lieutenant Charles Wilkes.
