Isolated nunatak in the NW part of Handel Ice Piedmont in the W-central part of Alexander Island. First mapped from air photos obtained by the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (RARE), 1947-48, by Searle of the Falklands Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) in 1960. The name given by the UK Antarctic Place-names Committee (UK-APC) suggests the feature's isolated position.
