Description (see definition): Low point at the E side of Fliess Bay forming the NE extremity of Joinville Island. Discovered on Dec. 30, 1842 by a British expedition under Ross, who named it Cape Fitzroy for Captain (later Vice Admiral) Robert Fitzroy, Royal Navy (RN) (1805-65), English hydrographer and meteorologist.
