An ice piedmont, 8 mi wide, to the E of Wyatt Hill, Bear Peninsula, on the Walgreen Coast, Marie Byrd Land. Mapped by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy (USN) aerial photographs, 1959-66. Named in 1977 by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) after Robert Hamilton, meteorologist, University of California, Davis; U.S. Antarctic Research Program (USARP) Station Scientific Leader at South Pole Station, winter party 1975.
